Important Deadlines for Making 2008 Tax Deductible Gifts
With each gift of money, time or equipment, you are making a difference, from helping us buy fish and medicine for sick and injured animals, to funding our research efforts which advance the level of care afforded to marine mammals worldwide and provide us with important information about the health of our oceans. Following are some of the ways you can help:

Become a member of The Marine Mammal Center or renew your current membership.
CREATE YOUR OWN MARINE MAMMAL CENTER FUNDRAISING PAGE
Simply log on to The Marine Mammal Center and click on Create your own personal fundraising page to quickly and easily launch your very own marine mammal fundraising campaign. You can create a fundraising page for any occasion - your birthday, wedding, a holiday, in memory of someone dear, or an awareness campaign – it’s up to you! So get the ball rolling by sharing your fundraising page with friends, family and colleagues.

OTHER WAYS TO GIVE
- Make a gift to The Marine Mammal Center from your IRA! On October 3, 2008, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 was signed into law by President Bush, and it allows people 70 ½ and older to eliminate the tax owed on the money they are required to withdraw each year from their Individual Retirement Accounts.
Under the Act, taxpayers ages 70 ½ and older may transfer up to $100,000 directly to a charity and pay no tax. However, the transfers must be made directly from the IRA trustee to a public charity.

- Monthly Giving- a great way you can help ensure our patients' needs are always met is by joining the Urgent Care Fund. Use the printable form or sign up online today by checking the button "I want to make a Recurring Donation"
- Matching Gifts -- Double your impact by applying for a matching gift through your employer’s matching gift program.
- Stock Gifts -- The Center accepts gifts of publicly traded stocks, mutual funds, and bonds.
- In-Kind Gifts -- The Center benefits from the donated equipment or medicine, and you benefit by claiming a tax deduction. To find out if your donation is something The Center can use, please contact the Development Department at (415) 289-0187, or dev@tmmc.org.
- Vehicles -- A painless way to get rid of your old car, boat or RV and support The Center at the same time
- Estate Giving -- Include The Center in your estate plans by joining the Steller Circle.
- eScrip -- Sign up with eScrip and every time you shop at any of over 6,000 merchants, a percentage of your purchase will benefit The Marine Mammal Center! You can also apply for their credit card which benefits The Center.
- Workplace Giving -- Enroll in your employer’s workplace giving program, which allows you to have an amount automatically deducted from your paycheck and donated to The Center.
- Internet Shopping -- Shop with participating corporate partnership with The Center.
- Volunteer -- Volunteer as part of our network of 800+ individuals who keep The Center running. Opportunities are available in many different areas.
